name is Richard Hallett, a graduate from Coventry University, originally
from Norfolk on the East Coast. I chose Coventry University in the
West Midlands to take an HND in Business in 1995.
After two years I proceeded onto a BA Business Administration degree.
In my fourth year I studied part-time while working full-time at
The Post Office Management & Training Centre at Rugby.
I graduated in November 1999 at Coventry Cathedral with a 2:2 Hons
in Business Administration.
Uni-Essentials brings together a collection of leading suppliers
based in the UK to supply the essential equipment to all students.
Richard has drawn on his four years experience at university and
overseas connections in order to offer a comprehensive list of equipment,
which is constantly expanding.
Uni-Essentials aims to make the entry into university and the life
that surrounds it a more enjoyable experience.
The business idea was generated from Richard's slightly uneasy start
to university. Richard was left with only catered lodgings as an
option, however moved to halls of residence in the second term.
Although the move into self catered halls proved socially a wise
one, Richard found himself with no essential housewares such as
a frying pan or set of cutlery to eat with. This was hampered because
his sister had already taken the family's equipment the previous
year. This called for Richard to make arduous trips into the city
centre to equip himself ready for self catered accommodation.
Richard has drawn upon all his degree skills in which to construct
a viable business plan. He has solely founded the company and through
a Coventry University scheme called Graduates into Business managed
to win all three award presentations.
